Meet Nick
Dr. Nicholas Klein is a Singing Voice Rehabilitation Specialist (SVRS-VT), award-winning educator, and accomplished singer, conductor, pianist, and vocal coach.
He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from the University of Washington, along with both a Master and Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Capital University Conservatory of Music, completed in partnership with the Zoltán Kodály Pedagogical Institute of Music in Hungary. He also earned a Graduate Certificate in Vocology from Lamar University.
In recognition of his contributions to the field, Dr. Klein was honored with the 2024 Emerging Leader Award from the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
In addition to his academic roles, he has held leadership positions in sacred music, including Director of Music at Central Lutheran Church in Seattle and St. Joseph Cathedral in Columbus, OH. At St. Joseph Cathedral, he also served as Interim Director of Music for the Catholic Diocese of Columbus and was a tenured soloist with the St. Joseph Cathedral Schola.
As a sought-after performer, Dr. Klein has appeared as a soloist and ensemble singer in Hungary, Switzerland, and Italy. Recent performance credits include Dr. Caius (Falstaff) with Puget Sound Concert Opera, soloist for BWV 97 with the Seattle Bach Choir, Larry/Matt (The Face on the Barroom Floor), Don José (Carmen excerpts), and Flavio (Norma). Dr. Klein is also a member of Choral Audacity, a professional choir based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Dr. Klein's work in secondary choral education has earned him national recognition. As Director of Choral Activities at Grove City High School, his choirs won numerous awards, including vocal and divisional championships, grand champion titles, and superior ratings at state and regional contests. Prior to that, he led the Jackson Middle School choral program, where his Symphonic Choir was invited to perform a featured concert at the OMEA State Conference for Professional Development.
During his DMA, Dr. Klein’s research focused on The Efficacy of Mental Practice for Motor Skill Enhancement in Singing. His additional research areas include Vocal Pedagogy for Transgender Singers and Homoerotic Subtexts in the Music of Benjamin Britten.
As a Singing Voice Rehabilitation Specialist, Dr. Klein trained under Dr. Kari Ragan, SVRS-VT, and collaborates with the Voice Center at the Cleveland Clinic and the voice care team at University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH, providing singers with voice habilitation and recovery support.
In his free time, Dr. Klein enjoys biking, baking, and spending time with family and friends. He’s also a fan of good wine and a well-crafted bourbon.
